After a long four months, UNH finally returned to the bargaining table with their remaining “counterproposals” to our reasonable economic proposals. On Wednesday, they delivered six responses that fall woefully short of meeting our needs.

Our proposals:Their responses:
Immediate 15-18% stipend increases, 5% annual raises, plus backpay
Establishment of a fund for International Workers to help with visa fees
Establishment of an emergency fund for graduate workers
Childcare stipends
Healthcare insurance for spouses and dependents
Parental leave
short-term disability
0% stipend increase in 2026, 2.9% stipend increase in FY2027, and 0% thereafter
$0 for international workers
$0 for a graduate worker emergency fund
$0 for child care stipends
Prohibitively expensive premiums for spouse/dependent healthcare
Zero parental leave
Zero short-term disability

We told them at the bargaining table that these “counterproposals” are insulting and unacceptable. These positions, among others, maintain the status quo and plainly indicate how the University values us as scholars and workers. Simply put, they don’t.

Now is the time for us to fight harder than ever to get the support, protections, and compensation we all deserve, and we need a unified front to do it.

We urge everyone to help. We can only do this together.

Be on the lookout for future organizing messages. We won’t stop the fight until we get what we deserve.

In solidarity,

GEU-UNH Organizing and Bargaining Committees
