This week, the Union presented counter proposals for International Workers, Discipline and Dismissal, and Health and Safety. The University presented counter proposals for Training and Grievance and Arbitration.
We have had several important wins at the bargaining table recently; our persistence is paying off! We are making steady progress toward widely available gender inclusive bathrooms and accessible menstrual products. In these uncertain times, we continue to push for stronger protections for international workers. We are hopeful that with your support, we can quickly reach agreements on these essential rights and protections.
We know you are eager to hear about stipend increases and health benefits. We are too. We already have over half of these articles drafted (including stipends!). We can present these once the University makes reasonable progress towards agreement on the remaining rights and protections.
To date, we have tentatively agreed on nine of the seventeen articles that have been presented. So far, we have agreed on:
- Academic Freedom
- Appointment Letters
- Employment Records
- Job Posting & Hiring
- Second Job
- Severability
- Successorship
- Workload
- Workspace & Materials
We want to hear your voice! Our next bargaining session is on May 13th at 11:15 AM in MUB 338, and we would love to see you there. Your support at these sessions means a lot to the Bargaining Committee and really shows the University our strength.
In solidarity,
UNH GEU-UAW Bargaining Committee
